China’s Oldest Love Story, Told at Spice Temple

Every year, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, China marks Qixi Festival. Two names sit at its heart: Niulang, a mortal cowherd, and Zhinü, a weaver girl and daughter of the Jade Emperor.
Their love was forbidden, and the Goddess of Heaven drew the Milky Way between them to keep them apart. Once a year, a bridge of magpies forms across the stars and the two are reunited — a moment the night sky still marks, with Altair and Vega set on opposite banks of the Milky Way.
More than romance
Qixi Festival is often called Chinese Valentine’s Day, but it runs deeper than that. It celebrates loyalty and endurance, the qualities that outlast a single evening. And that is exactly the kind of story Spice Temple exists to tell: China’s regional cuisines carry centuries of history, and every dish is a way to pass a little more of it across the table.
This Qixi Festival, mark a legend that has endured for centuries, over the bold, layered flavours of regional China. Reserve your table through the reservations link in the menu.
